The first day of Doctor’s was initiated on March 30th, 1933. It all came from Eudora Almond who was the wife of Dr Charles Almond. This date was selected because on this date general anaesthetic surgery was initiated by Dr.Crawford Long and the operation was to remove a tumour from a patient’s neck. The Medical society celebrated doctor’s day by sending emails and cards to the doctors and their wives and flowers were placed on the deceased patient’s grave.

On this day both patients and those who work for the organization recognize and appreciate the physician’s work and appreciate their tremendous work in serving the society and various communities.  According to the graph, more than 700,000 people work as doctors (physicians and surgeons) in the United States.
